How do I record a casual match in Padelio?

Last updated 2026-07-18

TL;DR:

Open Create → Match, pick Singles (1v1) or Doubles (2v2), and fill the Side A and Side B slots — you're added to the first slot automatically. Title, location, court, and date are all optional. Tap Create match and you land on the match page, where anyone in the match can enter the score.

What a casual match is

A casual match is a single game recorded on its own. It has no rounds, no schedule, no organizer, and no standings — just two sides, an optional set of details, and a score.

That makes it different from the rest of Padelio in one way worth knowing up front: casual match results are kept in their own stats bucket. They never mix into your league or tournament numbers, and league or tournament games never show up in your casual stats. See matches/stats-and-history.

What you decide up front

Only two things actually matter at creation time:

  1. Format — Singles (1v1) gives you one slot per side, Doubles (2v2) gives you two. This is just the shape of the lineup; there's no separate format setting stored on the match.
  2. The lineup — who's on Side A and who's on Side B. Each slot is either an App player (someone with a Padelio account, who gets an invite) or a Guest (a name you type, who can claim the slot later).

Everything else — title, location, court, date, time — is optional and editable afterwards. The one thing that gets harder to change later is the lineup: once anyone saves a score, it's locked.

Where to start

  • Mobile — the Create tab, then the Match tile ("Log a casual game and track your stats"). You can also tap New match on the Matches list, or reach the list from Profile → Matches ("Casual games & stats"). There's no bottom tab for matches.
  • Web — Matches in the sidebar ("Your casual matches and stats"), then New match. Or go to /matches/new directly.

Step by step

Step 1 — Open Create → Match

From the bottom navigation, tap the Create tab and choose Match.

Step 2 — Pick the format

Choose Singles (1v1) or Doubles (2v2). Doubles gives you two slots per side, singles one. Switching between them keeps the players you've already picked where it can.

Step 3 — Fill the lineup

Tap Add player on each empty slot. Slots are labelled Side A · Player 1, Side A · Player 2, and so on — you're already in the first one, marked You.

In the picker, choose App player ("Has a Padelio account") and search by name, or Guest ("Can claim their spot later") and type a name. Tagging an app player sends them an invite; guests are added straight away. See matches/players-and-invites.

Step 4 — Add the details (optional)

Title (placeholder "Friday night game"), Location via the club selector, Court (1–99), and Date using the combined date-and-time picker. Leave any of them blank — a match with no title just shows the two sides.

Step 5 — Create the match

Tap Create match. The button stays disabled until every slot is filled, with Add all players to continue underneath as a reminder. You land on the match page.

After you create

You land on the match page with the score editor ready. From there you can:

  • Enter the score — anyone in the match can, not just you. See matches/scores-and-results.
  • Share the match — the share action produces a link to /matches/<id>. Anyone with it can view the match read-only, signed out included.
  • Add it to your calendar — on mobile, a dated match that isn't finished or cancelled shows an Add to calendar pill. This is mobile-only.
  • Edit the details — on mobile via Manage match, on web via the Edit match dialog.

FAQ

Do I need a paid plan to record casual matches?
No. Casual matches are free on every plan and there is no cap on how many you record. Plan limits in Padelio apply to tournaments and leagues, not to casual matches.
Can I record a match I already played?
Yes. Set the date to when you actually played and enter the score straight away. Nothing stops you backdating a match, and it counts toward your stats once you finish it.
Who can see my casual match?
Casual matches aren't listed publicly or discoverable in search, but anyone with the direct link can open the match page and see the lineup and score, even signed out. Treat the link as the access control.
What if the other players aren't on Padelio?
Add them as guests — just type a name. They can claim their slot later once they sign up, and their past matches then count toward their stats. See [matches/players-and-invites](/docs/matches/players-and-invites).
Can I change the format after creating?
Only while the match is still Upcoming, only on mobile, and only if you're the owner. Once anyone saves a score the lineup is locked. See [matches/players-and-invites](/docs/matches/players-and-invites).
