How do I delete my Padelio account?

Last updated 2026-05-10

TL;DR:

From Profile → settings → Account → Delete account, confirm twice. Padelio blocks deletion if you're the sole owner of any crew — transfer or delete those first. Your match results stay on co-participants' history (anonymised to "Deleted User"). Subscriptions are not auto-cancelled — handle them separately.

Before you delete

Two things to handle yourself first — Padelio doesn't do them for you:

  1. Transfer or delete every crew you own. The deletion call uses ensureNotSoleCrewOwner and refuses to proceed while you're the sole owner of any crew. There's no "skip and we'll auto-transfer" option — the system does not automatically reassign crew ownership to admins. Open each crew's settings and either transfer ownership to a member or delete the crew. Leagues, communities, and tournaments don't have an equivalent block (deletion proceeds with those), but you may want to clean them up anyway.

  2. Cancel paid subscriptions yourself. Account deletion is independent of billing. Padelio's deleteAccount mutation doesn't currently cancel your RevenueCat (App Store / Google Play) or Stripe subscription — you'd keep being charged unless you cancel through the platform's billing manager. Open Profile → Settings → Subscription before deleting, or cancel directly through the App Store / Play Store / Stripe customer portal.

If you want a copy of your data before deleting: the Data privacy sub-view on mobile exposes a chat-export button (chat.exportMyData) that emails your messages JSON. A full account-data export endpoint exists in the API but isn't wired into a button today; for the complete export, contact support.

How to delete

Step 1 — Open Profile → settings → Account

Tap the Profile tab → settings (gear) icon → Account.

Step 2 — Scroll to Delete account

The Delete account button is at the bottom of the Account sub-view.

Step 3 — Confirm twice

Padelio prompts you with two destructive confirmation dialogs (no typing required — just tap to confirm). If you're a sole crew owner, the call returns an error listing the crews you need to handle first.

Step 4 — You're signed out

The app signs you out and the deletion mutation runs server-side. Match results and tournament/league participation get anonymised (your name → "Deleted User") so co-participants' history stays consistent.

What gets deleted

  • Your profile row (name, email, avatar, level).
  • Login credentials and linked auth providers (Google, Apple, Telegram, magic-link history).
  • Direct messages you sent.
  • Personal data on community memberships, RSVPs, and follow relationships.

What stays — and why

  • Match results, tournament participation, league standings. Anonymised: the name on each row becomes "Deleted User", but the row itself is kept. Removing them would falsify the standings of every other player who shared a tournament or season with you.
  • Crews, leagues, communities you owned. Padelio blocks crew deletion outright (sole-owner check). Leagues and communities are kept with you removed and re-attributed; their members keep using them. Padelio doesn't auto-archive crews if there are no admins — there's no automatic archive logic for that case.
  • Marketing consent audit records. Required by GDPR Article 7 for the standard retention period.
  • Legal and abuse records. If there's an open report or legal hold against the account, that record stays for the required duration.

This balance reflects GDPR's "right to erasure" with the established legal exception for data needed for the rights and legitimate interests of others.

Quitting without deleting

If you just want to step away, you can:

  • Sign out without deleting — Padelio keeps your data; you can come back any time.
  • Toggle profile visibility to Followers-only or Private (under Privacy in settings) so your stats and history stop showing publicly.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing while keeping the account.

These give you a quieter Padelio without the irreversibility of deletion — and without leaving your subscription attached and unpaid.

FAQ

Can I recover my account after deletion?
No. Deletion is permanent. You can sign up again with the same email, but it'll be a fresh account — no past tournaments, friends, or stats.
What happens to crews I own when I try to delete?
Padelio **blocks the deletion** until you transfer ownership of every crew you own (or delete those crews yourself). The check is `ensureNotSoleCrewOwner` — if you'd leave a crew without an owner, you can't proceed. You'll see an error listing the crews to handle first.
What about leagues, communities, tournaments?
There's no equivalent block for leagues, communities, or tournaments. Deletion proceeds through; your name on those records is replaced with "Deleted User", but the records themselves stay alive for the other participants who shared them.
Will my paid subscription be cancelled when I delete the account?
Padelio's account-deletion flow doesn't touch your App Store / Google Play / Stripe subscription. Cancel it separately through the same place you bought it (Profile → Settings → Subscription on mobile, or the App Store / Play Store / Stripe customer portal directly).
