Padelio Help

How do I manage marketing-email consent in Padelio?

Last updated 2026-05-10

TL;DR:

Toggle on in Settings → Marketing → Padelio sends a confirmation email → click the link → you're subscribed. Toggle off at any time to unsubscribe immediately. Subscribing again starts a fresh confirmation email — required by GDPR for re-opt-in.

What "marketing emails" cover

  • Product updates and new feature announcements.
  • Tips and recommended setups.
  • Occasional event invitations or community spotlights.

What's not marketing (and is sent regardless):

  • Transactional emails (account verification, password reset).
  • Notifications about your tournaments, leagues, crews, and events (controlled separately under Settings → Notifications).
  • Legal and security notices.

Subscribing

Step 1 — Open Profile → settings → Account

Tap the Profile tab → settings (gear) icon → Account. The marketing-consent toggle is part of the Account sub-view on mobile, not a separate Marketing entry.

Step 2 — Toggle on

Tap the Receive marketing emails toggle.

Step 3 — Confirm via email

Padelio sends a confirmation email to your account address. Tap the link in the email to confirm. Until you click, you stay opted out.

The confirmation link expires after 48 hours. If it expires, toggle off then on again to resend (rate-limited to three resends per hour).

Unsubscribing

Two paths:

  1. From Settings — toggle Receive marketing emails to off. Takes effect immediately. No email confirmation needed.
  2. From any marketing email — click the Unsubscribe footer link. Takes you to a one-click unsubscribe page (no login). The link is signed and valid for 30 days from when the email was sent.

Either path produces the same result: you're unsubscribed immediately and Padelio stops sending marketing emails to you.

Re-subscribing after unsubscribing

If you unsubscribe and later want back in, toggling on again triggers a fresh confirmation email. You'll need to click that new link to start receiving marketing again — Padelio doesn't reuse your previous consent (this is a GDPR requirement for re-opt-in).

Audit log

For compliance with GDPR Article 7, Padelio keeps an audit log of consent changes — when you opted in, when you confirmed, when you unsubscribed — with timestamps, IP address, and user-agent. The log is exposed via the marketingConsent.getAuditLog tRPC endpoint and the Settings → Marketing screen on both mobile and web shows your recent history. For a written copy of the full record, email support.

Padelio's Settings → Data privacy panel currently exposes a chat-only data export; a full self-service GDPR export covering the marketing audit log is on the roadmap rather than shipped today.

FAQ

Why didn't my marketing email arrive?
Check your spam folder first. If it's not there, the most common cause is a typo in your email or a delay from your provider. From Settings → Marketing, you can resend the confirmation (rate-limited to three per hour).
What happens if I never click the confirmation link?
You stay opted out. Padelio doesn't send you marketing emails until the link is clicked. Confirmation links expire after 48 hours; you can resend after that.
Can I unsubscribe without logging in?
Yes. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link signed with an HMAC token (valid for 30 days). One click unsubscribes — no login required.
