What can I change in a Padelio league after creating it?
Last updated 2026-09-08
League-level settings (name, description, cover image) stay editable for the league's lifetime. Season-level settings follow the DRAFT → ACTIVE → FINISHED / CANCELLED / ARCHIVED lock matrix from leagues/seasons-and-status. The host crew and the league's privacy mode are fixed at creation. Deleting a league is permanent and Pro-gated.
Two levels of settings
Padelio leagues have settings at two levels:
- League settings — name, description, cover image, privacy. These describe the league as a whole and apply across every season.
- Season settings — roster, scoring rules, dates, schedule, status. These are scoped to a single season and follow the season's status.
Find both via the Settings entry on the league page. The league's owner sees both; org Manager+ and crew Staff+ see the same edit surface they have for tournaments (see role gating below).
League-level settings
Always editable (until the league is deleted)
- Name and description.
- Cover image.
- Privacy —
isPublictoggle. Two states only: Public (discoverable, anyone with the join code can self-register through join-by-code) and Private (the owner approves new joiners). There is no separate "Crew-only" privacy state.
Set at creation, not editable later
- Host crew or community — set via the Host as selector when creating the league. The update mutation doesn't accept a new
crewId, so the link can't be moved to a different crew afterwards. To re-attribute the league, delete and recreate. - League brand colour — Padelio doesn't store a per-league brand colour today. League cover image is the only visual customization. (Crews carry brand colours; tournaments hosted by a crew inherit the crew's colour. Leagues use the cover image only.)
Season-level settings
These follow the season's status — see leagues/seasons-and-status for the full matrix:
- DRAFT — everything is editable: roster, format, scoring rules, dates, divisions.
- ACTIVE — name, description, dates editable by crew Staff+. The points system (points-per-win, points-per-draw, points-per-loss, points-per-set-won) is locked — it can only be set while the season is a draft. The remaining scoring rules (game-differential, organizer-only-scoring, dynamic-schedule mode) stay editable but require crew Manager+. Player swaps in fixed teams stay allowed; team additions/removals are blocked. Division moves are also locked.
- FINISHED / CANCELLED / ARCHIVED — read-only.
The format (Fixed Teams vs Dynamic Teams) is set when the season is created and locked from then on. To switch formats, finish the current season and create a new one with the other format.
Points system
Season scoring has two switches. Set them when the season is created — under Advanced scoring on the web create-league form, and in the Points block on mobile — or change them any time before you start it, from Settings → Seasons, where every DRAFT season has a Scoring button (on mobile, the same button sits on the season in Manage league). Either switch can be on alone, or both together; at least one has to stay on, otherwise nothing would ever be scored.
Match points — points for the result of the match:
| Field | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Points for a win | Once, to the winning side |
| Points for a draw | Once, to each side of a drawn match |
| Points for a loss | Once, to the losing side |
Set points — points per set won, added to both sides for the sets each of them won, whatever the result. A set won counts even when the match is lost.
That gives three ways to run a table:
- Match points only (the default, 3 / 1 / 0) — only the result counts, so a 2-0 and a 2-1 both give 3 points and 0.
- Set points only (1 per set) — a 2-0 gives 2 points and 0, a 2-1 gives 2 and 1.
- Both — 3 for the win plus 1 per set gives the winner of a 2-1 five points and the loser one.
Each field takes any value from 0 to 9, so heavier variants (2 per set, 5 for a win) work the same way.
Scoring is locked once the season is active. Changing it is a Manager+ action, and only while the season is still a DRAFT — the Scoring button disappears on activation, and the API rejects the change. A table has to stay built on the points it was built with: the alternatives are restating every match already played (which, on a ladder, would contradict promotions that have already been applied) or letting one table mix two scoring systems. Matches can't be scored before the season is active, so a draft has nothing to lose.
To run the rest of the year on different points, finish the season and create the next one with the scoring you want.
Divisions tab
If the season has divisions enabled, the league page exposes a Divisions tab where managers can rename, recolour, or add a logo to each division. Adding and deleting divisions is DRAFT-only; deletion is blocked once any matches have been played in a division. The default auto-division on single-tier seasons can't be deleted. Non-managers see the same tab as a read-only summary of their tier. See leagues/divisions.
Role gating
Padelio leagues use the same MANAGER / STAFF distinction as crews:
- Owner — full control of the league and its seasons, including delete.
- Crew Manager+ (when the league is hosted by a crew) — can do everything the owner can on the league and its seasons, including changing scoring rules.
- Crew Staff — can edit cosmetic season fields (name, dates) and tweak the roster within the season's status rules, but can't change scoring or delete.
There is no separate "co-owner" role at the league level. League ownership is single-owner; managing on behalf is delegated through crew membership when the league is crew-hosted.
There is also no transfer-ownership flow for leagues. Ownership can't be moved to another user. If you need to hand over a league, the practical path is to make it a crew-hosted league (crew Manager+ then has the same powers) or recreate the league under the new owner's account.
Deleting a league
From the league settings, scroll to Delete league and confirm twice. Deletion is permanent and Pro-gated:
- All seasons, matches, rosters, and standings are removed.
- The league disappears from every participant's history.
- Any share links break.
- There's no soft-delete, archive, or undo at the league level. (Individual seasons can be ARCHIVED if you just want to hide them.)
If you only want to stop accepting new seasons, leave the current season FINISHED and don't open a new one — the league stays visible in history without taking active actions.

FAQ
- Can I change the league's host crew or community?
- No. Crew or community linkage is set at league creation (via the Host As selector) and isn't editable afterwards. The league's update mutation doesn't accept `crewId`, so the link is permanent. To re-attribute the league to a different crew, recreate it.
- Can the league format be changed?
- Yes — between seasons. The format (Fixed Teams or Dynamic Teams) is a per-season setting, not a league-level one. A league can run a Fixed-Teams season followed by a Dynamic-Teams season; the format you pick when starting a new season is the one that applies to that season's matches.
- Can a set won count as a point even when the match is lost?
- Yes. Season scoring has two independent switches — **Match points** (win / draw / loss) and **Set points** (points per set won). Turn Match points off and Set points on and a 2-1 gives the winner 2 points and the loser 1. Leave both on to stack them. Set this while the season is still a draft — scoring is locked once the season is active.
- Will deleting a league remove participants' match history?
- Yes. Deletion is permanent and removes all seasons, matches, and standings from participants' history. There is no undo. Delete is Pro-gated — you (or the linked crew owner) need a paid plan.
